A Maryland family is mourning a young father whose little boy is about to celebrate his second birthday without him.
John William Stacey, 28, of Silver Spring, died after a single-vehicle crash early Saturday, July 25, leaving behind his son, who, according to loved ones, was the greatest joy of his life.
"John was a loving boyfriend, a devoted father, a cherished son, and a loyal friend," organizer Julieta Quinonez wrote in a GoFundMe created to help his family following his death. "His greatest joy in life was his beautiful little boy, who is about to celebrate his second birthday."

Mercedes Driver Killed In Early Morning Maryland Crash Identified By Police
A Maryland man was killed before sunrise after his Mercedes struck a curb, veered off the road, and slammed into a tree in Montgomery County, police said.
The crash happened around 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, in the 11800 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.
According to Montgomery County police, 28-year-old John William Stacey, of Silver Spring, was heading north in a gray 2010 Mercedes when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck the median curb near Tracey Drive.
The car then left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Maryland Man Walked Away From Fight, Returned To Shoot Victim Multiple Times, Police Say

Hagerstown's Kyron Sapp Jr., 33, is accused of leaving an altercation, returning with a handgun, and shooting a 26-year-old man multiple times early on Monday morning, according to city police.
Officers responded around 2:24 a.m. on July 27 to the 500 block of George Street, where they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was rushed to Meritus Medical Center, underwent surgery, and was listed in stable condition.
