Scooter Rider With Loaded Gun Fights Cops In Uniondale, Police Say
A Hempstead man was arrested after allegedly riding a scooter without lights and fighting off officers as they discovered he had a loaded gun in Uniondale, Nassau County police announced on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Selvin Watts, 42, of Brown Avenue, was stopped on an electric scooter at 12:15 a.m. on Argyle Avenue near Nassau Road, according to First Squad Detectives.
Police say the scooter had no lights, prompting a traffic stop with emergency lights and sirens. During the investigation, officers attempted to arrest Watts, who they say became combative and violent while resisting arrest.

Authorities are asking for help in locating a Long Island teenager who has been missing for several days.
Gabriella Panameno-Marinero, 14, of Uniondale, was last seen at around 7 a.m. Monday, June 2, according to Nassau County Police. Two days went by before relatives reported her missing to police on Wednesday evening, June 4.
The teen was previously reported missing in May, as Daily Voice reported.
Panameno-Marinero is 5-foot-1 and 110 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray sweater, gray pants, and black sneakers.

A Long Island man is accused of swindling a victim out of thousands through a rental scam.
Gerson Robles, 39, of Uniondale, was arrested Tuesday, April 8, on suspicion of grand larceny, according to Nassau County Police.
An investigation found that Robles accepted a $5,000 security deposit to secure a rental property that he did not actually own, police said. The victim, a 48-year-old man, signed a lease agreement and attempted to move into the home, only to discover that it was already occupied.
