$5K+ Check Stolen From Palisades School District: PA State Police
A $5,475 check belonging to the Palisades School District was stolen, altered, and cashed, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Monday, Dec. 9.
The theft occurred on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2024, at the district's location on Thomas Free Drive in Nockamixon Township, Bucks County, according to Trooper John Waida of PSP Dublin.
Troopers said the check was stolen from the mail, altered, and later cashed. The stolen amount totaled $5,475, the victim reported.
The investigation into the theft remains ongoing under Trooper Waida's oversight, state police said.

Authorities are investigating a disturbing case of vandalism at a Prince William County school after racial slurs were found etched into a classroom table, officials said.
On Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 8 a.m., the School Resource Officer at Brentsville High School, located in the 12000 block of Aden Road, was alerted to the vandalism, according to police.
Investigators from the Prince William County Police Department determined that the hateful markings, which contained no threats, had been scratched into the countertop of a table.

Student Brought BB Gun To Enfield High School, Causing Lockdown, Early Dismissal: Police
A Connecticut high school was put on lockdown and students were sent home early after a teenager brought what appeared to be a pistol and showed it off in a bathroom, authorities said.
Martin Williams, 18, of Enfield, was charged with including carrying a dangerous weapon, possessing a weapon on school grounds, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child, and first-degree breach of peace, Enfield Police said.
