SUNY New Paltz Names New School Of Business Dean
Kaustav Misra, Ph.D., will become the next Dean of the School of Business at SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Misra joins the university after more than three years as dean of SUNY Fredonia’s School of Business, where his work included academics, student matters, staffing, budgeting, accreditation, and other duties for a school with three undergraduate departments and one graduate degree program.
According to SUNY New Paltz, Misra also directed Fredonia’s Center for Innovation & Economic Development.

26 School iPads Stolen During Late-Night Break-In At Merrick Elementary
A late-night break-in at a Long Island elementary school left dozens of student devices missing, police announced on Wednesday, June 17.
An unknown suspect entered Chatterton Elementary School, located at 108 Merrick Rd. in Merrick, through an unlocked rear window around 10:55 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, according to Nassau County detectives.
Investigators said the intruder damaged window screens, causing approximately $300 in damage, before entering the school. Once inside, the suspect stole 26 Apple iPads and then fled in an unknown direction, police said.

The Ancell School of Business at Western Connecticut State University will launch a three-day summer program in Danbury aimed at helping business students build AI, career, and professional skills.
Named Ancell Advantage, the program will run from Tuesday, July 21, through Thursday, July 23, on WestConn’s Westside campus at 43 Lake Ave.

Pre-Prom Brawl Lands 6 Disorderly Conduct Charges, 1 Suspect Still Sought In Swatara Twp.
A disturbance at a Pennsylvania pre-prom event has resulted in criminal charges against six people, including three adults and three juveniles, announced on Thursday, June 4.
Starr Lynch, Yachanise Sellers, Jerrell Washington, and three juveniles were each charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct following an investigation into the incident at the Steelton-Highspire High School pre-prom gathering, which happened during the pre-prom event on May 22, according to Swatara Township Police police.
Investigators said the charges were filed on Thursday, June 4, after reviewing the incident.

4 Bard College Graduates Win 2026 Fulbright Awards
Four Bard College graduates have received 2026–27 Fulbright Awards for research, teaching, study, and community work overseas.
According to Bard College, the awards went to Danika Dortch, Peter Fields, Annaliese Simons, and Shosha Wheeler.
Dortch, a Literature major at the College and a French Horn Performance major at the Bard Conservatory, will conduct an independent project in Brno, Czech Republic. Her work will focus on composer Leoš Janácek and his influence on writer Milan Kundera, with archival research on Janácek, Kundera, and Moravian folk music tied to Czech national identity.
