A North Carolina man stabbed a New Jersey resident, then fled the scene in a red SUV, sparking a police pursuit that stretched through three towns Monday, June 16, authorities said.
Brian Pyke, 65, of Calabash, NC, was arrested after allegedly stabbing a man on Willow Run Lane in Montgomery Township (Somerset County) around 1:32 p.m., according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.
Montgomery Police officers arrived on the scene along with Montgomery EMS and provided emergency care to the victim, McDonald said.

Dennis Storey, 62, of Perth Amboy, was arrested Tuesday, June 10, and is being held in the Morris County Jail, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said. On Monday, June 16, a judge ordered him detained pending trial.

After nearly three decades, a Bridgewater homicide finally has a resolution, authorities said.
Robert Creter, 61, pleaded guilty on Monday, May 19, in the 1997 death of Tamara "Tammy" Tignor, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said. Creter pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and is expected to be sentenced to 10 years in state prison, authorities said.

That’s what Maryrose Fealey told her mother, Janet Pizzelli, on Jan. 30, 2024, the day before Pizzelli was set to begin chemotherapy for breast cancer.
“Well, she was wrong,” Pizzelli said of her daughter’s words. “It didn’t get better.”
It got worse.
That same night, Maryrose was stabbed to death by David Shroitman, who followed her home from the gym and killed her in her vehicle, prosecutors said.

A 28-year-old woman died in a fiery tractor-trailer crash early Saturday, Feb. 1 in Somerset County, authorities said.
The North Plainfield resident had been driving a 2020 orange Dodge Charger died on impact in the crash with a 2008 black Volvo tractor-trailer, the driver of which was not injured, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.
