Health-conscious Long Islanders have a new lunch spot to add to their rotation.
Just Salad – the chain of fast-casual restaurants focusing on, you guessed it: salads – will hold a grand opening ceremony for its fifth Long Island location at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, in Hauppauge.
The new store, located at 410 Motor Parkway Suite 130, will have several promotions to mark the occasion, including discounted $5 meal deals from Thursday to Saturday, June 15.

A man was arrested after he allegedly managed to intercept a nearly $80,000 check mailed from the US Treasury Department to a woman in Virginia.
Justin Meneses, age 25, was arrested on Wednesday, June 5, according to Nassau County Police.
Nearly three months before in Hicksville, on March 29, Meneses allegedly intercepted a check that was sent from the government’s Hardship Loan Program to a 57-year-old woman in the state of Virginia.
Meneses, who is from Hauppauge, altered and deposited the $79,876.52 check into his personal account, police said.

Jurors have convicted a man of stabbing his cousin to death at a Long Island business before turning the knife on the victim’s girlfriend.
Wilson Felipe Andrade-Molina, age 38, of Brentwood, was found guilty of murder and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, May 23, in the death of Miguel Andrade-Cando.
Prosecutors said surveillance video captured Andrade-Molina arriving at Electronic Machine Parts in Hauppauge, where the two worked, at around 7:20 a.m. on March 30, 2023.

A Long Island woman was arrested after she used her position as a bank employee to pull off a hundred-thousand-dollar scam.
Cricel A. Santamaria, age 24, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 3 for the crime she allegedly committed while working at a Jericho bank, according to Nassau County Police.
Santamaria, a resident of Hauppauge, was working at Webster Bank, located at 1 Jericho Plaza, on February 4, 2022, when authorities allege she fraudulently accessed check images.
She then sold them on the messaging app Telegram.

A 38-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on the Long Island Expressway that snarled traffic for hours during the morning commute.
The crash happened at around 3:15 a.m. Monday, June 12, in the westbound lanes of I-495 in Hauppauge.
According to Suffolk County Police, Brian Nieves, of Bay Shore, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the middle westbound lane when he struck the rear end of a tractor-trailer near Exit 56.
Nieves, who was alone, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, police said.
