‘Aggressive’ Mosquitoes Prompt Emergency Spraying Across Franklin County Neighborhoods
A swarm of aggressive mosquitoes has triggered emergency spraying across three Franklin County townships, officials announced.
The insect invasion is hitting neighborhoods in Quincy, Washington, and Greene townships starting at sunset on Wednesday, June 11, with trucks deployed to douse high-risk zones in a rapid strike aimed at stopping the spread of West Nile Virus.

Morgan T. Carbaugh, 28, of Fayetteville, died at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital on Saturday, May 17, 2025, while in the custody of Franklin County Jail, according to Warden Heather Franzoni.
He had been transported there from the jail where he was being held on felony charges related to child exploitation, Franzoni said in a brief statement issued Monday, May 19.

Amid the avian flu outbreak, authorities are investigating the theft of "high-value goods" from a Pennsylvania business, State Police announced on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
Approximately 100,000 organic eggs, valued at $40,000, were stolen from a distribution trailer at Pete and Gerry's Organics in Antrim Township, according to PSP Chambersburg.
The theft occurred sometime overnight on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Commerce Avenue facility, troopers detailed in the release.
