Lauren Zucconi, a Bergen County teacher, loving wife, and proud Long Beach Island homeowner, passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, after a decade-long battle with cancer, according to her obituary on the Volk Leber Funeral Home website. She was 36 years old.

Man Accused Of Exposing Himself To Women In Hudson Valley
A Hudson Valley man has been charged with allegedly exposing himself to women walking in a residential area.
The incident occurred in Rockland County on Monday, June 3, in Chestnut Ridge.
According to Lt. Chris Franklin of the Ramapo Police, Orange County resident Joseph Perez, age 31, of Greenwood Lake, was exposing himself while in a vehicle in Chestnut Ridge.
An investigation was conducted by RPD Detectives, which resulted in the identification of the vehicle and the suspect, Franklin said.

Covid-19: Hudson Valley Hits 2 Percent Infection Rate Mark As Cases In Clusters Spike
Spikes in positive COVID-19 cases in Rockland and Orange County have pushed the Hudson Valley’s infection rate to the highest in New York.
On Monday, Sept. 28, there were 9,948 people tested in the Hudson Valley, with 202 returning positive, bringing the infection rate to 2 percent, ahead of Western New York (1.3 percent), New York City (1.3 percent), and Long Island (1.2 percent).
No other region was above 1 percent as the statewide infection rate rose to 1.3 percent.

Hundreds in Rockland and Orange County remain without power nearly a week after Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked havoc on the East Coast.
As of 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, crews from Rockland & Orange Utilities was still responding to 417 reported outages, which were impacting 1,345 of their New York customers.
In Orange County, 705 of the company’s 104,130 customers were still reporting outages, while 628 of their 117,244 Rockland County residents were still in the dark.

Nearly 100,000 Rockland and Orange County residents were left without power as Tropical Storm Isaias rocked the region with extreme wind gusts that toppled trees, felled utility poles and downed power lines throughout the area.
Orange & Rockland Utilities was reporting 2,476 outages in the Hudson Valley as of 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, impacting 71,013 of their 229,619 customers.

A man was killed and two others were hospitalized after a Ford F150 rear-ended a tractor-trailer, state police said.
It happened on Friday, June 5 in Rockland County at about 9:30 p.m., on the Garden State Parkway southbound, at mile marker 1.6 in Chestnut Ridge.
The investigation at the scene revealed that Westchester County resident Edgar E. Cevellos Vega, 48, of Harrison, was operating a 2004 Ford F150 southbound, in the right lane, when he rear-ended a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer, state police said.

Having been sentenced to federal time, two members of a Bergen County family of con artists received state prison terms Friday in Hackensack for defrauding investors in back-to-back multi-million dollar scams.
George Bussanich Sr., 61, of Park Ridge, was sentenced to 10 years in state prison, while George Bussanich Jr., 40, of Saddle River, was sentenced to eight years in state prison.

A car burst into flames and was fully engulfed after a driver in Rockland County lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole, police said.
First responders responded to Pinebrook Road in Chestnut Ridge shortly before 2 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, where there was a report of a one-vehicle crash and subsequent car fire, police said.
