$1M Fire Rips Through Montgomery County Apartment Building, Displaces Six Families: Officials
It started with a mattress — and sent flames through the top floor.
A two-alarm fire caused nearly $1 million in damage, injured two Montgomery County firefighters, and displaced at least six families in Gaithersburg on Tuesday, July 1, officials said.
Fire crews responded around 10 a.m. to a three-story apartment building at 746 Quince Orchard Boulevard, near Rabbit Road in the Potomac Oaks community, according to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer.

One Dead, One Injured In Union Township 2-Alarm Fire: FD
A woman was killed in a two-alarm house fire in Union Township on Wednesday, Feb. 14, authorities said.
At 5:29 p.m., firefighters responded to 1120 Weber St. for a house fire, Union Township Fire Chief Greg Ricciardi said. While responding, firefighters were alerted to an elderly woman trapped inside the residence, Ricciardi said. Another occupant managed to escape and was on the front lawn, Ricciardi said.
As firefighters attempted to locate the woman and with the fire extended to the attic, a second alarm was transmitted, prompting additional units to respond, Ricciardi said. The woman w…
