Garfield Continues Series Of Financial Workshops
GARFIELD, N.J. -- The city will continue the financial workshop series it began in January in conjunction with Greater Bergen Community Action. Upcoming workshops will be held on Monday, Feb. 8, and Monday, Feb. 22, at the North Hudson Community Action Corporation Health Center, 535 Midland Ave. Two sessions will be held each day: the first will take place at 9:30 a.m., and the second at 6 p.m. Topics covered at the events will include banking, checking and savings accounts and credit. Fair Lawn's Warren Point PTA Sponsors Student Circus Residence Program
FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- The National Circus Project recently ran a “Student Circus Residence Program” at Warren Point Elementary School. The week-long event was sponsored by the Warren Point PTA. During the program, students at Warren Point experienced an NCP workshop in place of their regularly scheduled physical education classes. Fifth-graders received additional training in various circus skills to perform in a student circus held on Friday, January 15. Englewood Library To Screen Film On Life Of MLK
ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- The Englewood Public Library is screening a Martin Luther King Jr. film for children on Tuesday, Jan. 19, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. in the MacKay Room. Somers Library Introduces New Hours Of Operation
SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Somers Library has announced new hours of operation. Effective Feb. 1 , the facility will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of Thursday, when it will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate commuters on their return trip. Saturday hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., remain unchanged. Saturday summer hours, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., also remain the same. The library is closed on Sundays. Greenwich Land Trust Debuts New Logo
GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich Land Trust began the new year with a new logo that conveys the GLT's mission of preserving land. The image is one of open space. Central to the logo is Connecticut's state tree, the charter oak, and a stone wall, a historic remnant of New England agriculture that is found on most GLT properties. Elizabeth Hopley and the Communications Committee oversaw the design process.

Retro Themed Party Benefits Ridgewood Middle School
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- The George Washington Middle School Home and School Association is hosting its 1980s-themed “Donate to Innovate” Party on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Women’s Club of Ridgewood, 215 W. Ridgewood Ave. The event, which will include an auction, will feature the ’80s tribute band Rubix Kube. Proceeds from the festivities will benefit the school's science program. CLIFTON, N.J. -- As colleges across the country commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Berkeley College students, faculty and staff are celebrating the impact of the slain civil rights leader with outreach projects, dialogue activities and special events that will continue through Jan. 22.
