A 20-year-old woman was killed when a car veered off Route 280 and struck a sign support and several trees early Sunday morning, Aug. 16, authorities said.
Adamaris Mishell Tipan Gonzalez was riding in the front passenger seat of a Honda traveling west on I-280 when the crash happened near milepost 15.2 in Harrison around 2:35 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.

Paddleboarder, 24, Missing In NJ Lake As Crews Continue Search
A search continued Sunday morning, Aug. 16, for a 24-year-old man who fell into a New Jersey lake while paddleboarding with a group of adults, authorities said.
The reported drowning happened around 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Tilcon Lake in Mount Olive, Morris County Prosecutor's Office spokesperson Meghan Knab said.
The man fell into the water while the group was paddleboarding on the lake, Knab said. The other adults were unable to rescue him and called for help, according to Knab.
Paddleboarding is not permitted on Tilcon Lake, authorities said.

The FBI is offering up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a fugitive accused of helping defraud about 2,000 investors out of more than $650 million, including hundreds of victims in New Jersey.

Cooluli is recalling about 250,000 of its 10-liter and 15-liter minifridges, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday, Aug. 13. An electrical switch in the minifridges can short-circuit, posing fire and burn hazards.

A Teaneck High School teacher whose impact was felt by students, staff, and families has died at 47, school officials said.
Gorki Marcelo died on Thursday, Aug. 13, according to Teaneck Public Schools and Alvarez Funeraria. He was born on Nov. 27, 1978, in the Dominican Republic, according to the funeral home. A cause of death was not made public.
Marcelo was a business teacher at Teaneck High School, Interim Superintendent Angela R. Davis said in a letter to the school community.
