The 118-year-old Dutchess Golf Club recently underwent extensive upgrades - to the course, clubhouse and banquet hall - prior to its spring opening.
And the previously private course has been changed to semi-private - meaning members have the run of the place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but during weekdays the course is open to the public.
"It's definitely the best course in the area," Assistant Golf Pro Gordon Noble told Daily Voice during a recent visit. It's the best manicured and most challenging in the immediate area."
The Pro Shop is in the process of building a restaurant, and there are weddings and catered events in the clubhouse.
"Our Pro Shop is also the only one in Dutchess that sells Ben Hogan Clubs," Noble said. "They're top quality clubs. People come from far away just to get those clubs.
"The public seems to love the course," Noble said when asked about the public's response to the course. "The people who haven't been able to play it in the past absolutely love it."
