Maloney was part of a congressional delegation that visited Iraq, Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates from Dec. 23 to Dec. 30.

The purpose of the trip was to conduct oversight on U.S. force posture, regional dynamics, and counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

In Iraq, Maloney visited the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and a military base. Maloney had Christmas dinner with Captain Michael Bliss, a White Plains resident and Major Scott Hequembourg, a West Point native.

In Afghanistan, Maloney met with troops at Bagram Air Force Base, including Captain Christian Toro, a Beacon resident.
