LIVINGSTON, N.Y. – A Livingston woman was arrested and charged by state police Saturday in the murder of a newborn boy whose body was discovered in a dumpster on Friday.

Tara J. Tomlin, 20, was charged with second-degree murder after authorities determined that the baby had died by asphyxiation.

The baby was discovered in a garbage bag in a dumpster outside of the XtraMart at Bells Pond in Livingston, police said.

Tomlin was later arraigned at Livingston Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
