The New York State Crime Stoppers and State Police have offered a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the death of Poughkeepsie resident Sonia Centeno.

Centeno’s body was found in a shallow grave at a vacant farm on Mountain Road in LaGrange on Aug. 4, 2006. Her body was identified less than two weeks later. Centeno was described as a 5-foot-3 Hispanic woman who weighed approximately 117 pounds at the time of her death. She was 44 years old, with a winged lion tattoo on her chest.

Police said that two Dutchess County residents were walking the old Porter Farm when they spotted Centeno’s body in the grave and alerted authorities. It is estimated that she may have been dead for up to seven months when she was found.
