RED HOOK, N.Y. -- All Red Police officers received recertifications on the use of Naloxone from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services on Monday.
The recertification included training on how to administer the drug which is used to treat victims of opioid and heroin overdoses, police said.
Naloxone (Narcan) is an opioid antagonist used for the complete or partial reversal of opioid overdose, including respiratory depression.
Police have used the drug to bring overdose victims back to life.
