The Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response worked with the local fire departments to respond to the inter-county mutual aid request from Ulster County Emergency Services.

Sam’s Point Preserve is located in the Shawangunk Mountains and features very thick brush and terrain that is difficult to access. Hundreds of emergency crews have responded to fight the fire that has scorched more than 800 acres.

Tuesday's rain assisted in the efforts in battling the blaze, according to HVNN.com. For more on that and the grueling physical tool battling the blaze is taking on firefighters, check the HVNN video above and read the story by clicking here.

About three dozen firefighters from Dutchess County have now responded with a variety of equipment resources including brush trucks, utility terrain vehicles and other support vehicles.

In a press statement, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said: “We have been actively communicating with officials in Ulster County to offer our assistance with controlling the brush fire at Sam’s Point Preserve. We are grateful to the firefighters from departments across Dutchess County today providing necessary support in battling this massive wildfire.”
