HYDE PARK, N.Y. – Gladys H. Dell, a resident of Hyde Park, died Tuesday, July 12. She was 93.
Born in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late William Gontar and Clementine Boleshevski.
She was married soon after high school and worked part time as a switchboard operator for New York Telephone and the Poughkeepsie Journal. She lived her life as a devout Christian and always loved her rosary.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. William J. Dell Sr. and his wife Melanie A. of Palmetto, Fla. and Adirondack and and Dr. Joseph G. Dell Jr.; grandchildren, William J. Dell Jr. and Jason M. Dell of Clifton Park, Kristen M. Dell-Dewit of Wappinger Falls, Mary E. Velazquez of Palmetto, Fla., and Diana K. Morris of Hopewell Junction; 11 great-grandchildren; a related family with a future daughter-in-law; Chris Colligan; and many other family members.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph G. Dell Sr.; and sister, Lottie Gontar Karwasinski.
A memorial service will be conducted from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 218 Mill St., Poughkeepsie. Street-level and wheelchair entrance is off Vassar Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. immediately following the memorial service at Church of St. Martin de Porres, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
