RED HOOK, N.Y. -- Frederick L. Peckman, of Red Hook, died on Tuesday, March 21, in Lake Katrine. He was 83.
The Bronx native was the son of the late Fred and Katherine (Kohler) Peckman.
Peckman served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War.
He was employed by IBM for more than three decades.
An avid hiker, camper, and traveler, he also liked to tinker with and repair all sorts of things, especially Volkswagens.
Family and friends remember him for his kindness and sense of humor.
He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 55 years, Rosalie (Denigris).
Peckman is survived by two daughters, Dina (Robert) Fennell and Linda (William) Dubilier; four grandchildren, Emma, Connor, Thea, and Brody; a brother, William (Susan) Peckman; a sister-in-law, Maria Valcich; and a brother-in-law, John Denigris.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
Arrangements were handled by the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home in Rhinebeck.
