STAATSBURG, N.Y. -- Elaine Dropauer, a longtime Staatsburg resident, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 2 at her home. She was 69.

Born July 11, 1946, in Valhalla,  Dropauer was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Anton.

She was a graduate of Commerce High School in Yonkers.

Dropauer is survived by her children, Jeffrey P. Dropauer (Lisa), of Staatsburg, Jennifer E. Kitchen (Steven), of Ballston Lake; sisters, Marlene Nasko (John), of Peekskill and Bernadette Drago of Iowa; brother, Alan Tacinelli (Donna), of Yonkers; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Anton.

Dropauer worked for New York State Department of Transportation in the Town of Poughkeepsie as a damage recovery coordinator for many years until her retirement in 2010.

Previously, she worked at the state Office of Mental Health in the regional office at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center.

Along with her professional career, Dropauer had a love and passion for her country, community, family and friends.
