The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 37-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, who has moved to a residence on Crum Elbow Road in Hyde Park.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Johnson as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a predicate sex offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Johnson had sexual contact with his 11-year-old victim - who was known to him - in August 2011. He was convicted of second-degree sexual abuse with a person less than 14 years old in November that year and sentenced to a term of one year in jail. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Hyde Park Town Police Department.
