This plummy punch, a blend of various wines and fruits, not only refreshes, but, because it's often served in a pitcher, has the kind of cache other cocktails don't. In other words: it's all about sharing. What follows are some options for indulging in this crowd-pleasing concoction.

Babycakes, Poughkeepsie: Go for a glass or carafe of classic red made with red wine, brandy, cranberry, orange and Prosecco. Salud to Summer: 1 Collegeview Ave., (845) 485-8411.

Café Maya, Fishkill and Wappingers Falls: The classic red or white goes well paired with the Mexican dishes at this festive eatery where nachos and fajitas get high marks on yelp. Salud to Summer: 448 U.S. 9, Fishkill, (845) 896-4042 or 2776 W Main St, Wappingers Falls, (845) 632-3444.

La Puerta Azul, Millbrook: Say cheers to summer with a pitcher of red or white, paired, of course, with a side of gauc and chips. Salud to Summer: 2510 US-44, (845) 677-2985.

Panzur, Tivoli: Nostalgic for a taste of Europe? Panzur is reminiscent of a traditional Spanish tapas bar but with the bounty of the Hudson Valley. And what's better to go with the classics than lovingly made red and/or white sangria? Salud to Summer: 69 Broadway, (845) 757-1071.

The Vault, Beacon: Order, red, white or even rose sangria at The Vault and you'll get something made that minute. "It's all about fresh ingredients and made to order," said Owner Jon Lombardi who said his sangria is "the best" in the Hudson Valley." Salud to Summer: 446 Main St. (845) 202-7735.

Terrapin Restaurant, Rhinebeck: The flavors of the season are on full display at Terrapin where its summer sangria is made with white wine, peaches, plums, nectarines, strawberries and white cranberry juice. Salud to Summer: 6426 Montgomery St, (845) 876-3330.
