Living in California at the time, Gargiulo wanted to come home to Dutchess County. And he wanted to find a job he loved.

The idea of opening a craft brewery helped accomplish both.

"I felt like I had to create something," said Gargiulo as he stood outside the brick building in Beacon that he and his partners are in the process of renovating. "And I had this dream of opening a brewery."

He said once they fell in love with the building, it took three years to buy.

Now, with Hudson Valley Brewery getting closer to opening, Gargiulo and his partners are finally about to see the fruits of their labor.

"We're hoping to be up and running within a month," he told Daily Voice. "And we should have beer for consumption in two months."

The brewery's initial plan is to distribute throughout New York state, in addition to other states. The public will be invited on weekends until the rest of the building is finished.

The building, at 7 E. Main Street, will also house a restaurant, run by the partners. "We'll also have an event space on the third floor," he said. "We're really looking forward to it."
