RED HOOK, N.Y. -- Come to "India Children's Day: A Hands-on Celebration of Diwali," on Saturday, at 4 p.m., at the Masonic Lodge in Red Hook.

This event was put together by the Red Hook Public Library, Arts Mid-Hudson and Bard College. It's all about Indian Culture with an emphasis on the ancient festival of lights,-- Diwali. This traditional holiday honors the triumph of light over darkness and is a time of family feasting and gift-giving.

All ages will enjoy this special opportunity to experience the culture of India. Write your name in Hindi, get a Henna tattoo, play Parchisi, learn a traditional dance, tie a sari, taste Jalebi, and more.

This event is free and open to the public.

The Hendrick Hudson Masonic Lodge is at 9 Graves St.
