Nationwide Public Health Alert Issued For Ground Beef Products Due To Possible Contamination
Ground beef products distributed nationwide may be contaminated with E. coli and should not be consumed, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. FSIS has issued a Public Health Alert on Saturday afternoon, April 20.warning consumers about the issue. A recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase. FSIS said it is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ and food service institutions’ freezers. Popular outdoor gear and flannel shirt retailer L.L. Bean will open its newest store in the region next month. Based in Freeport, Maine, L.L. Bean will open its newest retail store in Ulster County on Friday, May 10, at Ulster Crossing in Ulster. Store officials said the Ulster store is the first of four projected openings in 2024 and the eighth L.L.Bean store to open in New York. It will take the space of the old Bed Bath & Beyond store. A person was killed after being struck by a Metro-North train overnight in the region. Support is swelling for the family of a former college football standout in New York following his unexpected death at age 25. Amitral “AJ” Simon, a former defensive lineman for the University at Albany, died Tuesday, April 16, relatives confirmed. A cause of death was not given. Closures, Lane Reductions Scheduled For This Hudson Valley Parkway
For about a week, construction work will close parts of a parkway in the Hudson Valley, causing closures and reductions in multiple areas. Starting on Sunday, April 21, and lasting through Thursday, April 25, Westchester County’s Hutchinson River Parkway will be subject to lane reductions and ramp closures, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced. Police are asking for tips after a 76-year-old man was beaten to death on a popular biking trail in the region. Emergency crews in Albany County were called shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, April 18, for an injured walker who was unconscious on the Mohawk Hudson Bike Trail in Menands. A cable company employee was electrocuted while working on a utility pole in the region. The Albany County incident happened at around 2 a.m. Friday, April 19, in the town of Berne on Long Road. The Spectrum Cable employee was in a bucket truck performing routine equipment maintenance on a utility pole when he came into contact with an electrical line, a spokesperson for Spectrum’s parent company Charter Communications told Daily Voice.
