Route 44 Lane Closures In Dutchess Will Last Through Month's End

Attention commuters, all lanes on both the westbound and eastbound sides of Route 44, between Burnett Boulevard and Peckham Road are scheduled to be closed overnight in the Town of Poughkeepsie beginning Monday, May 8.

The roadway will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. weeknights through Friday, May 26, while crews perform repairs to a bridge that spans the William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Motorists should follow the detour that will direct traffic to use Burnett Boulevard, Overocker Road, and Peckham Road.

Local residents will have access, but most businesses will be closed by 8 p.m.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
