There will be ongoing project work requiring the use of a single-lane alternating traffic pattern, controlled by flaggers, over the next several weeks, but drivers will still be able to cross the bridge, according to the Dutchess County Department of Public Works.
The additional project work will include construction of a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side of the bridge, installation of new guide rail and stone parapets with lighting, as well as final paving, striping, landscaping and utility relocations.
“We extend our thanks to the residents of Tivoli and Red Hook as well as our local business owners for their patience as our Department of Public Works team worked diligently over the last several months to reopen this bridge," said Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.
Work on the bridge began in the spring and involved the replacement of the original bridge and abutments, as well as the creation of widened travel lanes and shoulders.
The bridge averages more than 2,200 vehicles per day.
