While the college has not officially announced the honor, a Marist spokesman confirmed that marching band officials submitted a performance request well before the Nov. 8 elections and has been selected, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Greg Cannon, the college’s chief public affairs officer, said the band’s decision to apply for a spot at the inauguration was “in no way a political act,” and that band leaders planned to submit the application regardless of the election’s outcome, according to maristmediahub.com.

Where and when the marching band will play during the Jan. 20 inauguration remained unclear Thursday, according to the Journal.

Trump, a New York native, has many links to the Hudson Valley.

He owns an estate in Bedford, the Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor.

The president-elect’s name also adorns Trump Tower at City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
