Farrell is considering suing the district for $750,000 in lost wages. She filed a notice of claim earlier this month.

A five-year $150,000 a year contract was approved by the school board on June 14. On July 14, the school board, with two new members, voted to abolish the position.

The board voted 3-2 to create an assistant superintendent of human resources position at the same meeting where Farrell's position was eliminated.

Farrell's attorney, Stephen Bergstein, said under the contract, the district could only terminate the agreement for good and just cause; upon written charges and a hearing, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
