87 Motel Coming Down As Developer Works To Get Apartment Complex Approved

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- The 87 Motel in New Paltz is nearly demolished, and the Rockland County developer is working with local authorities to move forward on its new apartment complex, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Online sites featured mixed reviews of the aging motel at 403 Main St, from "quaint" to "tired" and much less polite descriptions.

Longtime developer Jay Theise, of Jakla Construction Corp., said he saw the need for the project, given the growth in the area, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

While the Town of New Paltz Planning Board has verbally approved the preliminary plans, sewer access remains an issue, the Journal also reported.
