To the voters of Rhinebeck and Clinton:

This year, we have an opportunity to elect a great person, Joan Carbonaro, to represent us in the County Legislature. In the more than 24 years she has lived in our district, Joan has been a great neighbor, an active volunteer, and an amazing contributor to the well-being of our community. Her background in nursing and her advocacy in the Public Health field (she has received a US Congress Certificate of Achievement for her community volunteer work regarding breast cancer detection) are valuable assets that will enable her to better serve our senior citizens -- a very prominent and important segment of the population in our area.

Joan has served as a volunteer through her church, working at their food pantry and even delivering meals to homebound residents of Wells Manor. She has represented her community in the Town of Clinton by serving on the Town Library Board of Directors, the Zoning Board of Appeals, and the town Cable Contract Re-negotiation Committee. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Mills Mansion, where she leads the fight for Historic Preservation, Recreation, and the Arts.

Perhaps Joan’s strongest attribute is her ability to connect and communicate with people, which she does with great ease. She is adept at listening, a skill not frequently seen in this era of grandstanding, self-promoting politicians. Joan is aware that the solutions to our problems require working together with community organizations, businesses, neighbors, and the various levels of government to achieve results. She will work hard to ensure that we all work collaboratively to address the needs of our district.

Joan Carbonaro will be a great County Legislator. I will be voting for her, and I urge you to do so, as well.
