To the editor:
My vote is for State Sen. Sue Serino on Nov. 8. She's a people's senator. My husband and I have been active volunteers with the American Cancer Society for almost a decade now.
Last year, we joined ACSCAN (American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network) expanding our fight against cancer by lobbying at the Capitol to secure funding that will fight this dreadful disease with medical research, among other things.
Our 12-year old daughter spoke at the Capitol urging our elected officials to save lives by funding the fight against cancer.
It was advances in medical research that ultimately saved her father's/my husband's life.
We visited our individual representatives’ offices. Serino’s chief of staff interrupted Sue in a meeting just to speak with us.
Evidently, it was Sue’s policy to meet any constituent who visited her office.
Sue listened earnestly. From that day forward, I knew that Sue was a people’s senator.
My daughter will never forget that day. Go Sue Serino.
