HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- The Hyde Park Daily Voice accepts signed and original letters to the editor up to 350 words. To submit your letter, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The writer of last week’s letter (Sen. Serino Should Denounce Skelos) seems to be woefully misinformed or is blatantly deceitful.
After Dean Skelos was indicted on the crimes that the writer describes, Sen. Serino was one of the first to stand up and call for his resignation. And she has called for ethics reform since being elected to office. She sponsors bills to impose term limits and to prohibit a corrupt convicted politician from receiving a public pension.
These are the ethics reforms that I as a taxpayer, care about and will actually make a difference. Apparently the writer has never heard the saying, “those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.”
As almost every newspaper across the state has reported over the past few weeks, Terry Gipson is currently wrapped up in one of the biggest campaign corruption scandals of the decade. In a bid to control politics across the state, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio is under investigation for funneling money to Gipson's failing campaign to push his ultra-liberal ideas.
Gipson sold his soul to the NYC devil and in the process sold out the people of our community.
Senator Serino has proven herself to be an independent thinker and the issues she takes on prove that she has our community’s best interest at heart. The writer of last week’s letter would do well to check the facts before publicly supporting a sellout.
