On Sunday, around 4:30 a.m. police received a commercial burglary alarm at the Dollar General store located at 1049 Violet Ave., said Lt. Robert Benson.

Officers arrived on scene and were quickly able to determine from evidence at the scene that a vehicle fled south on Violet Avenue, he said.

The Hyde Park Police Department, Dutchess County Sheriffs and Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department immediately began checking all roads in the area, Benson added.

The Dutchess County Sheriffs Office and Town of Poughkeepsie Police stopped a vehicle on Salt Point Turnpike they felt may have been involved, he said.

The driver was identified as John E Dekoskie, 53, Poughkeepsie, and the passenger was identified as Caitlin S Decesare, 20, Hyde Park.

After an interview, both were charged in connection with the crime.

Dekoskie, who was charged with felony burglary, was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Decesare, who was charged with possession of stolen property, was also remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bail bond.

Both are scheduled to appear in court later this month.
