Woman Charged With Illegally Possessing Semiautomatic Gun In Dutchess

A traffic stop in Dutchess County led to the discovery of a 36-year-old Bridgeport, Conn., woman illegally possessing a semiautomatic pistol, New York State Police said.

Troopers who pulled over Yajaira Berrios at around 10 p.m. Tuesday in Pleasant Valley found the Ruger 9E semi-automatic pistol, according to state police from the Poughkeepsie barracks.

She was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a felony, as well as multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

Berrios was arraigned in Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. She is due to re-appear in court on Jan. 23.
