SUV barrels down Hoboken walkway, sending people scurrying

BEYOND BERGEN: An SUV jumped a Hoboken curb this morning, crashed through a safety barrier and went barreling down a pedestrian walkway, scattering people — including a woman pushing a stroller.

The female driver of the Lexus apparently suffered a seizure, sending her car up the curb at Fifth and Grand streets near the Church Towers senior citizens development around 8:20 a.m.

Witnesses said the SUV was doing about 30 miles an hour when it exited the walkway one a block down at Clinton Street before stopping a block later at Willow.

An ambulance took the woman to Hoboken University Medical Center.
