The call for the fire came in around 5:19 p.m., Tuesday, at the multi-level home at 9 Depuyster Ave., said Fire Chief Gary Van Voorhis.

When firefighters arrived they found smoke throughout the home, but had to search to find the source of the fire which turned out to be in the floor under the furnace on the first floor, Van Voorhis said.

The residents, who are currently being helped by the Red Cross, should be able to move back in the home once the furnace and floor areas are repaired, along with several holes in the wall from where firefighters were searching for the origin of the fire, he added.

During the fire, Central Hudson was on scene to turn off the electricity until the fire source could be found, as well as Fishkill firefighters who assisted the department.

The department stayed on scene until after 10 p.m., to make sure the fire did not reignite.

There were no injuries to residents or firefighters.
