Troopers responded to Chase Bank on Freedom Plains Road to investigate a fraud complaint in March.
Bank employees reported that an unknown female entered with a counterfeit Connecticut driver’s license and portrayed herself as a Chase account holder, state police said.
Damaris Arocho, 41, allegedly attempted to withdraw $1,400 from an account and fled on foot when she overheard bank employees contacting the actual account holder by telephone to verify the transaction, police said.
Following a lengthy investigation, Arocho was identified as the suspect and a warrant was issued in September ordering her arrest.
She was taken into custody in the City of White Plains Court on Wednesday where she was appearing for an unrelated incident, state police said.
Arocho was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and criminal impersonation. She is being held at the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 1.
