Troopers were dispatched to the Extended Stay America Hotel on Merritt Boulevard in Fishkill at approximately 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 for a report of a male wanted for a domestic violence incident that occurred in Orange County.

Upon arrival, Anthony J. Abbott of Poughkeepsie identified himself, acknowledged that he knew he was wanted for family offenses committed in Orange County, and had possession of narcotics, but would not open the door, according to police. Access was gained to the room and Abbott was taken into custody after a brief struggle, police said. Abbott was found to be in possession of heroin, cocaine, and crack-cocaine paraphernalia.

Abbott was charged with criminal mischief in the second degree (a Class D felony), three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration, all Class A misdemeanors.

Abbott was arraigned before the Town of Fishkill Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail and $20,000 bond.
