DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A 23-year-old man was arrested following a foot chase by Beacon police for stabbing another man.
The incident took place around 12:41 a.m. Saturday, when Beacon patrol officers observed a fight in the Church St. parking lot in which the parties involved fled the scene after seeing the police officers, said Detective Lt. Lou Lucato.
Officers were able to detain one man involved in the altercation after a foot pursuit. Minutes later, police received a call regarding a person with multiple stab wounds at the parking lot of 361 Main St, Lucato said.
During an investigation of the incident, it was determined that the man was the victim of a stabbing that had just occurred in the parking lot, he added.
Police detained Shaquan M. Willis, of Beacon, who was in possession of a knife that was determined to be the weapon used to stab the other man, Lucato said.
The victim was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital where he was treated for multiple stab wounds to his face and torso area, he said.
Willis was charged with felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held at the Dutchess County Jail on $25,000 cash/$75,000 bond.
