The cause of a dispute between employees at a popular Westchester restaurant that led to a man's fatal stabbing by a female co-worker late Tuesday morning remains a mystery.

The suspect in the incident at River City Grille on Route 9 in Irvington, identified by Irvington Police as 27-year-old Rosa Ramirez of Manhattan, who was recently hired as a dishwasher at the restaurant, has been charged with murder and was arraigned Tuesday afternoon.

The man, Yonkers resident Bonifacio Rodriguez, 39, was reportedly stabbed multiple times around 11:30 a.m. after the two reportedly got into an argument and he was rushed to Westchester Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:19 p.m.

Information regarding the dispute between the two has not been released.

Rodriguez was a married father of two.

Irvington Police say they responded to the kitchen area of the River City Grille where they discovered Rodriguez unresponsive and bleeding from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.

It was Irvington's first murder since Jan. 17, 1974 when a 41-year-old housewife was stabbed to death by an 18-year-old man on Havermeyer Road.

Police were called to the restaurant at 6 S. Broadway after the attack and took the woman into custody.

Ramirez was remanded to the Westchester County Department of Correction pending her return to the Village of Irvington Justice Court on Monday, April 16.
