Man ID'd In Fatal Red Hook Crash

RED HOOK, N.Y. -- A 49-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a one-car crash on Route 9 in Red Hook Monday morning, according to John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.

The accident occurred neared the border of Columbia County.Robert Yowell of Albany was unconscious and trapped in the vehicle, and was later pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling southbound when it left the roadway and struck a tree, police said.

The roadway was closed approximately three hours for investigators, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit.
