The call for a possible bridge jumper came into New York State Police around 4:13 a.m. when an abandoned vehicle was found on one of the bridge spans, said Trooper Melissa McMorris, spokeswoman for the NYSP.

Ryan said Newburgh deployed their marine unit around 5:55 a.m. to begin searching for the man. They were assisted by the West Point, Middlehope, and Cornwall-on-Hudson fire departments.

The body was located about three miles north of the bridge.

The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of family members and an autopsy, said McMorris.
