A 22-year-old Hudson Valley man has been arrested and charged in a sexual assault at Siena College outside Albany, state police said Friday.
Christopher T. Johnson of Hudson was charged with rape in the first degree and criminal sex act in the first degree after a nearly two-week investigation on Wednesday, police said.
Johnson is not a student at the college but was visiting a friend on campus, police said.
The investigation started after a female student of Siena reported to officials that she had been the victim of a forcible sexual assault on campus by a male individual known only to her by a first name.
Collaborative efforts by both Bureau of Criminal Investigation members in Latham and the Campus Sexual Assault Victims Unit of the state police, along with the Siena College Department of Public Safety, resulted in identifying Johnson as a suspect and his subsequent arrest.
Johnson was arrested in the Hudson area at the State Police Livingston barracks and transported to Troop G in Latham where he was processed for the felony charges. He was arraigned at the Town of Colonie Court and remanded to Albany County Jail without bail.
