Hopewell Junction Acme Market Evacuated After Deli Fire

It might have filled the store with smoke, but fortunately, a fire in the deli department of the ACME Market in Hopewell Junction was quickly extinguished.

The small fire, which started around 4:12 p.m., Wednesday, at the store at 829 Route 82, was put out with a fire extinguisher in minutes, said East Fishkill Police.

Customers were escorted outside as East Fishkill firefighters on scene vented the store with fans to help remove the smoke. The fire was believed to have started in the rotisserie. There was no report of any injuries.
