Tyrell R. Barker, 23, of Highland and Brooklyn, was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 15, and again on Wednesday, according to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police.

Barker's arrest is the result of an investigation which focused on fictitious payroll checks being deposited or attempting to be deposited into accounts at a local bank, police said.

He was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and grand larceny and is being held at the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond for the first arrest and $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond for the second arrest. Barker is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 5.

As a result of the Town of Poughkeepsie  investigation, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department will be filing similar charges against Barker for incidents that occurred in the Town of East Fishkill and City of Poughkeepsie, police said.

The investigating is continuing and additional arrests are expected. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Town of Poughkeepsie Detective Division at 845-485-3670.
