Dutchess Sheriff's Officers Arrest Suspect In Pleasant Valley Burglary

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Detectives from the The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a 29-year-old resident of Pleasant Valley on a burglary charge, authorities said.

The arrest occurred when detectives conducting an investigation in the area of State Routes 82 and 44 in Pleasant Valley observed someone allegedly breaking into Brennan’s Grocery Store shortly after midnight on Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

The detectives apprehended the suspect, identified as Kenneth M. Hotaling, 29, inside the building, the sheriff’s office said.

Hotaling has been charged with burglary in the third degree, a felony, according to the sheriff’s office.

After processing, the defendant was arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail ion $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond, the sheriff’s office said.
