Dutchess Inmate Charged With Attacking Correction Officers With Cane

FISHKILL, N.Y. -- A former inmate at the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill has been charged with attacking correction officers with a wood cane, state police said.

Francisco Calderon, 32, was hit with six counts of second-degree assault, a felony.

Police say Calderon, while incarcerated at the Dutchess prison in 2014, injured several correction officers, breaking the knee of one and the nose of another.

They did not describe the circumstances under which the alleged attack occurred.

Calderon was arraigned in Town of Fishkill Justice Court and returned to prison to await his next court appearance.
