Area House Cleaner Stole Thousands In Cash From Residence, Police Say

A woman from Marlboro was charged with stealing more than $3,000 in cash from a home in Plattekill in Ulster County after being caught in the act on a surveillance video, according to the New York State Police.

Lorrie Lent, 48, who was a house cleaner for the victim, was seen on video taking the cash from an envelope in the homeowner's bedroom. Lent then damaged the surveillance equipment, which captured her actions, state police said. 

Lent was charged with grand larceny and criminal mischief and was released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 15, police said.
