Segundino Gamoso, 80, Rhinebeck Resident

RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- Dr. Segundino Gamoso, of Rhinebeck, died on Wednesday, March 30. He was 80.

Born in the Philippines, Gamoso had been a physician at Northern Dutchess Hospital. He enjoyed gardening and cooking for his family. He was also an avid reader and loved to travel domestically, as well as internationally. Some of his most recent trips were to Italy and Las Vegas.

He took an active role in his grandchildren's lives. "He retired when his first grandchild was born and thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow through the years," information from the funeral home noted.

Gamoso is survived by his wife, Dr. Milagros Guerrero; children Marisa Flanagan of Rhinebeck and Maribel Benhamed of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren Michael, Mia, Matthew, Miles Dean, Jaden and Leila; siblings Josefa Valdez and Pedro Gamoso of the Philppines; and many friends and colleagues.

He was predeceased by his parents, Francisco and Isabel (Valdez) Gamoso, and his sister, Rosario Gacusan.

Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., in Rhinebeck, and prayers will be offered at 7:45 p.m. A mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Good Shepherd Church, in Rhinebeck. Burial will follow at the Rhinebeck Cemetery.
