RED HOOK, N.Y. -- SallyAnn O'Connor, 89, of Red Hook, died Wednesday, Oct. 26.
She was born April 23, 1927, to Hubert and Helen Mott in Mexico, N.Y. and spent her youth in Seneca Falls and Pleasantville.
She was a graduate of Bowling Green University, receiving her degree in home economics and participating in multiple activities, including synchronized swimming.
O'Connor worked for 22 years as a home economics teacher for the Astor Home for Children in Rhinebeck, where she was greatly loved by her colleagues and students alike. Upon her retirement, Astor Home created a Student of the Year award in her honor.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick O'Connor; and children, Stephanie (Bob) Drayn, Garret (Ann) O'Connor, Christopher O'Connor, Shawn O'Connor, CFR, and Jane O'Connor; eight grandchildren, Kayley and Kyle O'Connor, Trevor and Kristen Drayn and Jordan, Alison, Ryan and Jack O'Connor; sisters, Helen Danforth, Mary Scull, and Martha Altobell; and brother, Frederick Mott.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S Broadway, Red Hook. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at Christ Episcopal Church, 7423 S. Broadway, Red Hook.
